After locking myself into a “Korn, Paradigm Shift” , late flickr loss of sleep, randomly falling into a sedative comatose, and in constant contact with ‘the freaks,” themselves, Aetna and Cigna. I told myself, “ no chance I hype myself up again for another metal concert.” Granted, “Gojira” was on tour with Korn, and they’re freakin nuts.
But here I am, prepping my iphone once again, checking on the status of my ticket everyday on “dice”. But “Esta vez,” it’s for Hi I’m Ghost, at Kemistry Nightclub. The band’s performer is “el hijo” of the leader of “Korn.” I know It’s not Lost Lands Music Festival 2024 or Forbidden Kingdom 2024, and I would be missing out on some pyrotechnic photos or elaborately dressed dancers, but I expected the club to still be loaded with wicked bass drops, mixed with his rock and metal background loops. Kemistry, has also Fort Lauderdale’s first gas station, it’s a landmark, cars aren’t the only one’s being fueled, the club also features it’s specialty drinks, beginning with the Eunstein, then radium and varadium, followed by Walter White, and the big bang. Kemistry parks itself on SW 2nd street and SW 2nd avenue, this is a Riverwalk type bar street, where patrons go and grab a beer from the bar with the loudest music, grab a slice from pizza windows; also most of the establishments have banners and advertisement stands offering free drinks for ladies. It was 1:30 a.m., the crowd was energized after two warm up sets, that might have caused some speaker damage — also most of the crowd was styled in haunted house uniform attire , wicked vixen girls dubstepping in knee high boots, headbangin with oversized sunglasses waiting for a reason to raise their arms as high as possible and pump to the hard drops.
I spoke with two young riddim heads, Gina and Adrienne, who are from Fort Lauderdale. They said they purchased their ticket earlier in the day, and were super excited.
As did Cami, who was also from Fort Lauderdale. She said, “I hadn’t heard of Hi I’m Ghost before today but enjoys the music he plays.”
Hi I’m Ghost’s setlist wasn’t the only entertainment for the 200-ticket buying audience, when not stomping out another riddim heavy metal bass drop, two big screen LED panels continuously flashed motion graphic effects, rotating a mix of ghost sketches and other signature logo designs, when not juxtaposition or scaling in shape designs.

This style of music has a real chance at joining some of the heavyweights that headline monster festivals. With a chart topping collaboration in Hi I’m GHOST’s future, the riddim scene is shaping up to give EDM a run for their money.
